Electrical Permits & Licenses

Permits


Electrical permits shall be required for all electrical construction installation including:
  • Alterations
  • Repairs
  • Additions
  • Replacements
  • Upgrades
  • New electrical work
This also includes the following:
  • Branch circuits
  • Feeders
  • Service Entrance
  • Saw Services
  • Swimming Pools
  • Low Voltage Cabling (large projects)
  • Signs
  • Transformers
  • Motors

Permits shall be obtained before commencing any work on properties.  Fees for electrical permits are based on specific items per the fee schedule and for items not covered in fee schedule – the fee charged is $4 per $1,000 of the total cost of the work.  To obtain an application and fee schedule, click on electrical permit application and fee schedule.

Licenses


Any person wishing to perform electrical work within bossier City must have a current Bossier City license.  The contractor must provide a copy of their current state license or provide proof of passing and (ICC or equivalent) exam.  A photo ID along with a copy of their general liability insurance (not less than $100,000), and required fees.

Fees


  • Apprentice - $15
  • Journeyman, or Specialty Journeyman - $30
  • Master or Sign Manufacturer - $150
  • Residential Electrician, Specialty or Maintenance - $25
