Bossier City Police began an investigation into an apparent homicide around 9:30 a.m. Monday morning, October 22, 2018, outside the Cordova Court Apartments on Westgate Drive. The body of a white male was located in a dumpster by a man who was rummaging through the trash. That man told another man who then flagged down an officer in the area.
Police identified the deceased as 45-year-old Steven Lincoln Milner, a resident of 900 Westgate Drive, Apartment F2 in Bossier City. The victim sustained blunt force trauma to the head and stab wounds to the upper body.
Detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit found evidence linking 46-year-old David Dewayne Sanders of 900 Westgate Drive, Apartment #45 in Bossier City to the crime. Sanders is charged with 2nd degree murder. Sanders also faces charges of monetary instrument abuse, possession of Schedule II drugs (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and on a bench warrant for failure to appear in Bossier Parish court.
Sanders was booked into the Bossier City jail before being transferred to the Bossier Parish jail. Bail is set at $500,000 on the murder charge.
