Ewald M. Hoyer 1907-1910
Ewald Hoyer , a local businessman , was Bossier City’s first mayor. He never received a salary as mayor and paid for the first city hall from his own pocket.
He began his career as de-facto mayor of the community. When Bossier City incorporated in 1907, Gov. Blanchard appointed him as mayor. Hoyer was later elected to office and served until 1910.
Mayor Hoyer is credited with drilling the first deep water well in Bossier Parish, and constructing the first direct link between Shreveport and Bossier City. He passed away in 1957.
