Thomas Hickman 1925-1937
Thomas Hickman, born in Filmore, LA, owned and operated a mercantile on Barksdale Boulevard and practiced Real Estate in Bossier. Under his administration, the first modern City Hall was erected, Barksdale Army Air Field was dedicated and Cane Street was renamed Barksdale Boulevard. Also during his term, Bossier’s first city park opened in 1937.
Hickman was one of the organizers and charter members of the Martin McClanahan Masonic Lodge. After his service as mayor, he became Bossier’s Truant Officer. He died in 1950 at the age of 78.
