The Bossier City Fire Department responded to a fire at a residence in the 2200 block of Hickory Ridge Drive early Sunday that resulted in a man sustaining burns to his face and back. The fire happened at approximately 1 a.m. in a guest house separate from the main residence and heavily damaged the structure. The first fire crews to arrive on the scene found heavy flames and smoke coming from the building. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. A car and a trailer parked next to the guest house received moderate damage from the heat generated by the blaze. The main residence was not damaged.
The injured man, age 42, was one of three men who were inside the guest house at the time of the fire. BCFD personnel transported him to LSU Hospital in Shreveport for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The other two occupants, ages 23 and 21, where not injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
