Bossier City Chief of Police Shane McWilliams today announced the promotions of two police officers including the appointment of a new deputy chief of police.
Mayor Lorenz Walker joined Chief McWilliams in promoting the officers during a ceremony this morning at the Bossier City Police Department with family members and department personnel in attendance.
Chief McWilliams promoted Sgt. Darren Barclay to the rank of deputy chief. Deputy Chief Barclay has been a member of the Bossier City Police Department since 1999 and most recently served as supervisor of the BCPD's Violent Crimes Unit. Deputy Chief Barclay becomes one of three deputy chiefs under Chief McWilliams that are tasked with supervising the day-to-day operations of the department. Deputy Chief Barclay's area of command will encompass administrative services and support divisions including training, city jail and records.
Chief McWilliams also promoted Officers James "Ty" Wood to the rank of sergeant. Sgt. Wood has been a member of the Bossier City Police Department since 2003. Sgt. Wood is assigned to the patrol division and will serve as a supervising shift sergeant.
