Black History Month Proclamation: Norman Moore

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, Black History Month affords special opportunity to become more knowledgeable about black heritage, and to honor the many black leaders who have contributed to the progress of our nation; and

WHEREAS, the City of Bossier City recognizes and celebrates Black History Month by honoring a few standout leaders in our community; and

WHEREAS, Most of us would say that we would care for and support those who have physical, emotional and spiritual disabilities, but Norman Moore has lived it. For the past 37 years of his life Mr. Moore has served, provided for and championed individuals with disabilities. 

WHEREAS, in 1984, he graduated from Southside Baptist High School with honors and later in the same year he obtained his GED from Booker T. Washington High School. After high school, Norman went to Louisiana Tech (“Go Dawgs”) and earned a B.A. in Psychology. After graduation he moved to Dallas, Texas, where he found his calling in Social Services working with people with disabilities in community homes, recreational, vocational, or social settings.  Thankfully, 28 years ago Bossier City became his home, and his passion became our good fortune.  He is currently the Executive Director of Evergreen Life Services for the NWLA Division. Because of his leadership in our community, our citizens have found support and help in making their dreams a reality; and

WHEREAS, Norman Moore is an excellent example of leadership. His selfless choices and compassionate heart have brought hope to those who are often forgotten and overlooked in our culture.   He has spent his career helping others find and make a place they can call home. The City of Bossier City is honored to recognize Mr. Moore.  Thank you, for making our community a better place.

NOW, THEREFORE, I THOMAS H. CHANDLER, Mayor, of the City of Bossier City, do hereby proclaim TUESDAY, February 21, 2023, as “Black American Leadership Recognition Day” in Bossier City, and ask our citizens to join us in honoring these outstanding Black American Leaders whose lives have shaped our community.

 IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the city to be affixed.
