City History
The area of Bossier City dates back to the 1830s when it was the Elysian Groves Plantation of James and Mary Cane. Steamboat loads of cotton, corn, and sweet potatoes were shipped to markets in the south and east, from the plantation port known to many as Cane's Landing.

In 1996 WK Bossier Health Center opened its doors to serve residents of Bossier City and the surrounding area west of the Red River with critical, emergency and general care.

CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital
CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital is the new model in healthcare with emergency care, six short-stay inpatient beds, advanced imaging, and diagnostic laboratory services versus the traditional hospital model our community has come to know. We provide 24/7 access to board-certified emergency physicians to accommodate those patients with emergent illness, and short stay inpatient beds for those patients who require further monitoring and treatment.
