Fire Prevention Week 2018

The Bossier City Fire Department kicked off its annual school fire safety program this week at Sun City Elementary School. Every year during the month of October, BCFD’s Fire Prevention Bureau takes the message of fire safety to all Bossier elementary schools with a multimedia presentation that includes a puppet show and video. The Bossier City Fire Department conducts the program in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week, which will be observed the week of October 7. This year’s theme is, “Look, Listen, Learn. Be Aware-Fire Can Happen Anywhere.” The majority of US fire deaths (4 out of 5) occur at home. Residents who have planned and practiced a home fire escape plan are more prepared and therefore more likely to survive in the event of a fire in their home. For more information on how to make an escape plan visit the National Fire Protection Association at https://www.nfpa.org/Public-Education.
